Finding the perfect hostess gift is always a challenging. Even taking into account personal style, collections, and food preferences, I sometimes get it wrong. Lately, I’ve settled on a good bottle of wine as my go-to gift. Pedestrian (I know), but usually safe.
To jazz up my hostess gift, I often include seasonal wine charms, monogrammed coasters, or even whimsical wine stoppers (some of my faves are from MindBody Active Wine Stoppers from Top It Off).
But, with the avalanche of invitations to summer picnics, barbeques, and graduation parties, even I am running out of ideas!
Luckily, I recently discovered the ultimate hostess gift: a wine opener and three essential wine accessories that are packed in a luxury box.
The gift set includes a lever-action wine opener that is a real lifesaver. No more struggling with an old-fashioned corkscrew (potentially breaking the cork off into your wine). Just clamp on and pull the lever. That’s it! And, removing the cork from the corkscrew is as easy as pushing the lever in the other direction.
In addition to the wine opener, there are also accessories that make serving wine easier, faster, and more enjoyable.
- Wine Aerator. Because wine (especially red wine) needs to “breathe,” this aerator oxygenates wine while pouring, softening the tannins. According to Wine Spectator, this is an important step when serving red wine because, “Typically, as a wine is exposed to oxygen, it becomes more expressive, releasing aromas and flavors.”
- Foil Cutter. Never again fumble with a sharp knife in order to cut free the foil encasing a wine cork. It’s an easy way to get hurt (especially if it’s not the first bottle you’ve opened that evening!). This cutter slices through foil cleanly and quickly. Simply attach to the top the bottle and twist. In one motion, you are foil-free.
- Vacuum Bottle Stopper. If you’ve left a bottle only half-finished at the end of the evening, this vacuum bottle stopper will preserve the wine until another day. Good wine is far too expensive to waste, so this little gizmo is really a money saver.
Although the look of this must-have hostess gift is pure luxury (gold foil box with classic black magnetic lid and custom foam inserts), the price is perfect for gift giving. The entire wine set by Plaisir de la Cave (including all four pieces and gift box) retails for just $39.99.
It’s the ultimate gift for all of those summer pool parties, clam bakes, and weekend invitations to the beach house.
Surely, Kenny Chesney was right… “it’s a smile, it’s a kiss, it’s a sip of wine … it’s summertime!”
