The Trick to Pinterest-Worthy Dishes? A Food Spiralizer!

The Trick to Pinterest-Worthy Dishes? A Food Spiralizer!I am not always an early adopter. Take my food spiralizer, for example. These little gizmos create “noodles” out of veggies, Pinterest-perfect curly fries, and gorgeous garnishes that would make Martha Stewart proud.

But, even though food spiralizers have been popular for quite a while, I was still a bit leery. Was this another panini maker / slider burger grill pan / Nutri Bullet destined to gather dust in the far reaches of my tallest cupboard?

In a word… no.

This spiralizer is amazing. Yes, you can create healthy noodle substitutes out of veggies. But, for my money, the spiralizer’s real value is how professional your food looks. Picture-perfect with just the turn of a crank!

The Brieftons Spiralizer has five different blades. The Angel-Hair Blade creates 2mm ultra-thin noodles. The Fine-Shredding Blade makes heartier 3mm-wide noodles. There is even a Crude-Shedding Blade for 6mm-wide noodles garnishes and a Flat Blade for ribbon-like noodles. My fave, though, is the Curly-Fry Blade for 10mm wide x 6mm thick potato curly fries!

The spiralizer is easy to assemble and simple to use. It’s also very sturdy and unlike a mandolin or your favorite knife, there is no danger of cutting yourself. It even has a solid base and non-slip feet.

Not all veggies will work, so it takes a wee bit of trial and error. Easiest are potatoes, zucchini, cucumber and other similarly shaped “sturdy” veggies.

My very first attempt was with potatoes using the Angel Hair Blade. These were spiralized easily, placed in well-greased muffin tins, topped with eggs and baked into absolutely beautiful (and delicious) bird’s nests.

Emboldened with success, I used it again for spiralized zucchini which was sautéed in butter. Yum! I even used spiralized cucumber to top a tossed green salad and jazz it up a bit.

The Brieftons 5-Blade Spiralizer is available on Amazon Prime for under $30.  And I, for one, am hooked. Next up? Roasted Garlic Parmesan Carrot “Noodles”!

Amazing, I’ve been wanting a spiralizer, but not a dud. I like your idea with the potatoes and eggs. I love spiral fries, so much for “healthy” lol. I have a tiny, tiny, kitchen, no room for duds. I have to ask Santa for this, but taking no chances, just put in my Amazon “list”!
