Embellished Denim is Fresh for Spring

Mark Jacobs denim jacket. Embellished Denim is Fresh for SpringEmbellished denim is back. When I first spied this Marc Jacobs denim jacket, it was like a trip back in time to 1995.

And, since this trend is sure to be short-lived, I will not be investing $695 (even though the jacket is oh-so-sparkly and covered with a plethora of funky New York themed appliques and pins). Instead, I will rely on a trick that I used when styling my very first fashion show back in college – vintage brooches.

I have dozens of brooches, from classic cloisonne, to 1960’s crosses, to Material Girl-inspired rhinestones from the 1980s. Pinning them in a random pattern approximates the Marc Jacobs look, without the expense.

And, when the trend is dead, I’ll simply unpin!
