I’ve tried many skincare products and I am never one to shy away from unusual ingredients — from Vitamin C, to Green Tea, to mud harvested from the famed Dead Sea. I am of the mind that if it works, it works!
So, when I was offered the opportunity to test Foxbrim’s Seaweed Complex Lotion, I was up to the challenge. Upon doing a little preliminary research, I learned that seaweed as a topical treatment has been part of the Asian culture for centuries. In fact, in a recent Huffington Post article, the virtues of many traditional Asian beauty secrets are extolled, including the use of seaweed. “Seaweed and kelp are used in Chinese and Japanese cuisines for their concentrated nutrients, but they are also a part of traditional skin-care treatments. Imperial courtesans in China used natural exfoliants to remove dead skin cells, and seaweed and kelp were among their favorites.”
And, today’s science confirms the wisdom of those traditional treatments. It’s been discovered that seaweed contains high levels of many vitamins and minerals that are crucial for maintaining healthy and young-looking skin. These include antioxidant vitamins A, C, E, and D, plus all of the B vitamins. Seaweed also contains 60+ trace minerals like calcium and magnesium, as well as polysaccharides, which provide moisture.
Armed with all of this knowledge, I was excited to try the power of seaweed myself!
I found Foxbrim’s Seaweed Complex Lotion to be a light and fresh lotion and excellent for daytime use. It absorbed quickly, so I could apply makeup right away (a major plus for me). And, after using the lotion, my skin felt soft and elastic, but not heavy, sticky, or greasy.
Daily use over the course of the week helped restore firmness to my winter-tired, dry skin, as well as reduce the look of fine wrinkles. According to Foxbrim, long-term use of the seaweed lotion will even help with increased collagen production!
My only difficulty was that this is a highly scented, perfumy lotion. The scent is certainly pleasant and actually dissipates after about a half hour. But, if you also prefer less scented products, you may want to try Foxbrim’s Vitamin C Moisturizer, instead.
