#Giveaway! Win Stunning Sterling and Malachite Earrings

Sterling and malachite earrings from Sitara Jewelry - GiveawayWith its vibrant green color and bold, swirling patterns, it’s no wonder that malachite has been a coveted gemstone throughout history. Traditionally considered a “protection stone” associated with spring and new life, its shades can range from leaf green to deep forest.

Malachite has been mined for thousands of years. In fact, “…the earliest recorded reference to the gem comes from 4,000 years ago in the deserts of ancient Egypt. Ancients were strong in their belief about evil eye amulets worn or sewn into clothing, and malachite was a stone that provided that protection,” explains Carrie Whitney, Ph.D.  in the article, “Malachite Is the Gorgeous Green Gemstone Cleopatra Wore.”

Beautiful malachite can be found  worldwide, from Africa to Australia, Israel to Arizona. And because it is a softer stone, malachite has often been carved into a wide variety of objets d’art such as obelisks, small boxes, dishes, and delicate figurines, across many cultures.

On a larger scale, the gemstone is even used to craft fireplace surrounds and vessels. For the truly breathtaking, however, “The Winter Palace landmark of St. Petersburg, Russia, contains one of the most outstanding displays of this gemstone in a room called the Malachite Room. This room, designed in the late 1830’s, includes a fireplace, large columns, urns, and decorative vases made entirely of Russian Malachite. It was designed as a formal reception room for Russian Empress Alexandra Fyodorovna, wife of Czar Nicholas I….” according to Minerals.net.

Today, clever artists and designers most frequently use malachite in stunning jewelry, taking advantage of its exciting and unique patterns. No two stones are alike! Some of my favorites include highly polished beads and of course, dangly earrings like the artisan crafted “Riya Earrings” from Sitara Jewelry, shown. These earrings pair vivid malachite gemstones and gleaming sterling silver settings to create a dazzling combination. The earrings are sized perfectly for the daytime wear, but have enough pizazz for an evening out. Retail: $38.00

In addition to these striking malachite earrings, Sitara Jewelry offers a huge line of beautiful jewelry, crafted from sterling silver and gold overlay with a variety of gemstones such as lapis lazuli, amethyst, and moonstone. The Sitara collection includes rings, bracelets and necklaces, as well as earrings in all shapes, styles and sizes to suit any taste.

I would love these for myself. My parents gave me as a gift a malachite necklace and these earrings would look wonderful. I do tend to wear lighter colored jewelry in the warmer months. The color green though is all year long.

I love wearing bracelets and rings and earrings too. I would give these to my friend to brighten her day as she recently lost both her parents.

My favorite piece of jewelry is my wedding ring and a small diamond cross necklace I wear every day it is the last Christmas gift from Mother before she passed away. I would wear the beautiful earrings to work.
