All of my life I have envied those women with sleek, pin-straight hair. My own is thick, coarse and uncontrollably wavy when the weather is humid (and since I live on the East Coast, that’s pretty much every single day). Argan oil, derived from kernels of the Moroccan argan tree, is a rich oil that is quickly absorbed into hair. According to Healthline, “Argan oil is mostly used as a moisturizer for skin and hair because it is full of fatty acids, mainly oleic acid and linoleic acid. These oils have been shown to lubricate the hair shaft and help your hair maintain moisture.” The oil also contains Vitamin E which add vitality, softness and gloss to hair.
The Argan Oil Serum from Brilliance New York can be used two ways: wet and dry. To use it on damp, just-shampooed hair, simply add a few drops to your palm and apply directly to hair, combing through thoroughly before drying. A little goes a long way – for my shoulder length hair, I use about 5 drops.
Using the serum on wet hair makes tangles far easier to comb out, so styling is much easier. Then dry and style as usual. Even my colored hair is instantly softer and silkier.
For use on dry hair, add a few drops to your palm and work through hair, avoiding the scalp and paying particular attention to the ends. Especially on dry hair, use sparingly, until you can gauge how much your hair needs for the desired effect. I only use a few drops, since too much will weigh down even my voluminous hair and make it look flat. I use it daily on dry hair and pack it in my bag for midday and after work touch ups. (The bottle is only 50 ml, so it fits in almost any handbag.)
