Beauty Widgets 8 piece makeup brush setYou’re only as good as your tools. And, unfortunately, I haven’t had a complete, new set of makeup brushes in a while! So, when I received this set of eight brushes from Beauty Widgets, I couldn’t wait to try them.

The set itself is lovely. Eight brushes of varying size and use come packed in their own waterproof, faux leather zipped case.  So pretty! And, I especially appreciate the rose gold accents and white pearlized handles.

There are four face and four eye brushes for a variety of uses. Plus, the brushes are helpfully labeled. So in theory, even the novice can easily choose exactly the right brush for the best results. Although to be honest, I was a bit confused between Powder and Finisher. (Isn’t mineral makeup both?) And, is Big Contour for blush? In the end, I simply guessed based on the brush edge!

Beauty Widgets brushes are made with soft, synthetic bristles, so they are a perfect choice for anyone with allergies to natural hair. The manmade material is also an attractive alternative to natural hair brushes if you are vegan, or simply object to animal hair.

Beauty Widgets makeup brush setSince synthetic brushes are not as porous as natural animal hair, they actually provide a superior application for liquid or creamy makeup (foundation, liner, and especially lipstick). And, because they are less porous, they don’t absorb so much makeup and get clumpy or cakey. My favorite thing though, is that they are a snap to clean!

The Beauty Widgets collection of makeup brushes is available on Amazon Prime for under $20. When I did a little comparison shopping at Sephora, I quickly realized what a bargain that price truly is. ($49 for one makeup brush… really?)
