I have been a devotee of the Rachel Ashwell‘s romantic Shabby Chic decor aesthetic since she burst onto the scene in the late 1990s. Her unique method of combining one of a kind treasures with a simple, restful color palette resonated with me then, and still does today. I especially love charming vintage pieces that make my space unique.
Since I always seem to have a full house – family, pets, friends, and a business – I have not been able to embrace the look throughout my home (frankly, white slip covers are simply not compatible with a 140 lb. black dog, three cats, or hoards of teenagers tromping about).
So, the master bedroom has become my Shabby Chic sanctuary.
Lucky for me, my husband is extremely good natured and never complains about the pink floral quilts, cut crystal lamps, or oh-so-feminine plates, botanical prints, picture frames, and assorted silver bric-a-brac.
Starting my day in a Shabby Chic atmosphere is soothing. Ending each night cocooned in simple luxury makes for a restful night. Above are a few of my favorite pieces to add a dash of Shabby Chic to your interior this Valentine’s Day.
