Lunch as… art? Beautifully presented, healthy lunches are a snap with a Bento Box by Lifemark Labs!

Bento BoxIt’s back to school season and that means it’s time to brainstorm some new brown bag lunches. Of course, my brown bag isn’t a bag at all… it’s a box! My new Bento Box by Lifemark Labs is a super stylish, leak proof, and microwave, dishwasher and freezer safe lunch kit with three compartments.

If you are familiar with Japanese cuisine, you’ll know that a “Bento” is a single-portion takeout or home-cooked meal.  Traditionally, a Bento contains rice, fish or meat, with pickled or cooked vegetables.

According to Wikipedia, “Japanese homemakers often spend time and energy on a carefully prepared lunch box for their spouse, child, or themselves.” There are even contests for Bento arrangers to compete for the most aesthetically pleasing arrangements!

And, although I will not be creating “kyaraben” (Bento’s decorated to look like popular Japanese characters) or “oekakiben” (Bento’s decorated to look like people, animals, buildings, flowers and plants) a Bento Box is the perfect way to pack a healthy lunch.

Everything tastes better (even low-cal choices) when presented in a beautiful way. So, it’s goodbye to those boring and carb-laden sandwiches and hello to fresh veggies, fruit, yogurt, and quinoa!

And, the clever container makes portion control simple. Plus, it’s so well made (with hinges on all four sides) that it is leak proof, even between compartments. Want hummus and strawberries in one Bento? No problem!

There are four fun colors available including blue (my personal favorite), green, orange and purple.

Bento Boxes by Lifemark Labs retail for $34.95 on Amazon, but if you are an Amazon Prime member, you can snap one up for just $19.97!
