Beauty may come from within, but a sense of style is made… and Marian has style to spare!
A fashionista from her earliest teen years, she was later a chic stewardess based in NYC when the competition was fierce and the prestige high. Even marriage, children, and life in the suburbs didn’t dim her megawatt star power — when I was in 2nd grade, my classmates were convinced she was a former Miss America!
Growing up, I learned about cut, color, style and construction because she altered all of her clothes for the perfect fit. Her hallmark looks – military inspired shirtdresses, classic silk scarves, elegant Adrienne Vittadini loafers, and the perfect red jacket – have all become my favored go-to pieces, as well.
But she didn’t just influence my sense of style. My friends were generally in awe of this lovely lady, who was always made-up just so — whether she was working as the area Avon representative or simply hanging wash on the clothesline. Even the boys weren’t immune. One high school boy schmoozed, “Susan, I didn’t know you had a sister…” and he was only half kidding!
So here’s a Happy Birthday to the most stylish woman I know! Love you so much!
