Silk Neck Scarf: Elevate Your Spring Style

I have two real weaknesses when it comes to fashion: tiny beaded handbags and silk scarves. I have dozens of handbags, but I own almost 100 scarves. Most are sourced from vintage stores, where I regularly pick up a new-to-me silk neck scarf almost every month – from Calvin Klein, Ralph Lauren, Liberty of London, and even one stunning Hermès (authenticated!) for about $1 each.

I love scarves because they are like tiny pieces are beautiful artwork. The colors, the patterns, and the details are just so varied; from cabbage roses to geometrics, Greek keys to Impressionist illustrations… maybe that’s why I have so many?

They can also be worn in multiple ways: tie up a low ponytail with a small square, add a long scarf as a sash or belt, wrap the handle of a handbag for added impact, and of course, wear one around your neck!

It’s an easy look that adds an extra element to a simple outfit and dresses up a more casual look. In fact, you can add a silk neck scarf to almost anything! I am especially fond of pairing a twisted neck scarf with a piece of jewelry – either a scarf clip or brooch – for added oomph (Click here for more brooch styling tips). Above are a few examples of how best to wear the trend.

No scarves in your closet? No problem! Some of my faves for this season are quite affordable and can be found at Talbots, Ann Taylor, Kate Spade. and my new obsession for all things patterned, Rifle Paper Co.
