It’s October and it is finally getting colder. The early morning feels just a bit chilly and the air has that inexplicable fall “snap.” No denying it. It is time to get out there and finish off the cold weather wardrobe! And, with a host of weekend rambles, craft and antique markets, pumpkin picking, and hayrides ahead, I need plenty of fall outfits, ready to go. Unfortunately, a quick peek at my closet leaves me a bit discouraged. And, my hectic fall schedule leaves me very little time to actually go shopping. Are you in the same predicament? My solution? Online shopping. And, shopping for fall essentials is easy and fast, if you shop at JD Williams.
Online retailers like JD Williams sell thousands of different items from handbags to sweaters, jeans to dresses, plus more. So, putting together stylish, warm, and practical outfits that are just right for fall weekends is easy. Here are a few ideas to get you started.
Casual Fall Dresses
A go-to casual dress is a must-have, not just for fall, but for every season. I personally love swingy, long-sleeved t-shirt dresses. Add a cardigan or denim jacket if it’s brisk outside. Layer a cute scarf for a pop of color. The possibilities are endless.
These dresses work for the office or for evenings out. They are so adaptable, they even take you to the weekend Farmer’s Market or pumpkin patch. (Just make sure the dress is long enough to allow you to preserve your modesty when bending down to pick your pumpkin. I speak from experience!)
I also adore the season’s florals. Once only available in spring and summer, this season designers have wisely opted to extend the growing season. Pretty florals in darker colors and longer silhouettes are simply smashing. One of my personal faves is the Joanna Hope Longline Printed Shirtdress, which can be worn closed, as shown, or open over a t-shirt and skinny jeans.
As temps dip, it is also important to protect your legs and keep them warm enough. Stockings and tights are a perfect way to do this. This fall there are some fantastic looking patterned tights and stockings available.
The best thing about stockings is that you can just as easily wear them under jeans or trousers! This provides you with an easy way to layer up and stay warm on those really cold days.
Go-Anywhere Jeans
Jeans are one of the most versatile items in my closet. For fall and winter, I choose heavier denim which keeps me warm, but still hangs well. (In fact, the right cut can even provide a little support, helping to lift and shape. There’s just nothing like a flattering pair of jeans!)
If you have a hayride, fall craft fair, or afternoon of apple picking planned this weekend, jeans are a fantastic option. You can wear any length boot, from suede ankle boots, to this season’s cowboy-inspired Western stunners.
Plus, when you layer up using tights or leggings, your day can easily turn into a cozy evening at an impromptu bonfire. This short video shows you how to quickly find the perfect pair of jeans for you, without trying them on.
Top it Off! The Season’s Best Tops, Sweaters, and Jackets
When it comes to tops, sweaters and jackets, I always look for pieces that are easy to layer. For items such as cardigans, always double-check the sizing. Make sure that the arms and shoulders are big enough. You want to be able to still move your arms freely even when wearing several layers underneath.
A few of my faves for fall are the season’s longer sweaters and cardigans. They are easy to layer and perfect for snuggling up in front of a roaring fire.
The Boyfriend Cardigan, pictured, is one of my top picks. It features a ribbed knit and side splits, with two front pockets. In addition to the red shown, it’s also available in black, grey and indigo. (I want them all!)
