Solid Colors… or, Why I Dress Like a Weather Girl

Solid Colors... or, Why I Dress Like a Weather GirlI was searching for a dress to wear to work the other day when I realized — there are almost no prints in my closet! It wasn’t always this way. Back in the day, I was known to sport enormous cabbage roses, sultry leopard or spunky plaid. And, just a few years ago, I went through a wild print skirt phase. But now, solid colors seem to reign supreme in my closet!

I wondered to myself… why? Of course, solid colors are easy. And, solids can be dressed up or dressed down. Plus, solids are simple to accessorize with a scarf or statement jewelry.  And, it dawned on me… I had started dressing like a weather girl.

My personal discovery prompts me to ask, “What fashion routine have you fallen into?” As always… I love your comments!

It would be hard for me to say, but this year I’ve been getting quite a few things on thredup, mostly what I think is cute, but not too fussy. But I spend so much time doing jobs around home that I’m wearing my clothes that I don’t mind getting grungy. I’ve been having a thing for viscose and modal this year, I actually search for things made of it.

As a working artist, my “outfit” is blue jeans with a long sleeve shirt and sweatshirt. Nothing with buttons, all pull-overs. In the summer, blue jeans or shorts with a t-shirt. I always put three complementary colors together. My hair is corralled (long curly hair) and my head is covered with a do-rag or “schmatee” to protect my forehead from my jeweler’s visor. This is my outfit. I think the bottom line for all of us is to wear what is comfortable. Just my two cents…. And solid colors with a wild print scarf and/or shoes? Yes yes yes!!!
