If you think plaid equals only flannel lumberjack-inspired work shirts or staid, traditional wool scarves… think again. This season’s plaid is amped up with serious city style! And, you’ll find the patterns adorning everything from coats, to dresses, to accessories of all kinds.
According to Stylecaster.com in The 12 Best Fall Trends from New York Fashion Week, “Fall runways usually bring more tartan than we can handle, but this year, labels like Calvin Klein and Victoria Beckham approached plaid in a much cleaner, subtler, muted way, and used the print on everything from outerwear to cocktail dresses.”
The best way to add plaid to your wardrobe? Think chic, streamlined shapes from pencil skirts to cropped jackets. Try classic silhouettes such as pea coats and sheath dresses. Or add plaid in a completely unexpected way, with some of the season’s fabulous pumps or handbags.
Above are some of my favorite pieces for fall. Are you mad for plaid?
