Spring must-have: Graphic gingham in classic black and white!

Gingham grows up for summer 2016

This spring, I have fallen in love with gingham all over again. Along with other faves like seersucker and madras, gingham is one of my quintessential summer fabrics. The traditional checked pattern evokes memories of July 4th fireworks, barbeques held poolside, and that old tire swing by the lake…

It is also one of the strongest looks this season with graphic, must-have pieces from Wes Gordon, J.Crew, Victoria Beckham, Marni and more.

The trick to wearing gingham (without resembling Elly May Clampett from The Beverly Hillbillies) is to use the pattern sparingly (one piece at a time, please!) and in muted colors. And this year, I am especially drawn to traditional, crisp black and white, in a variety of pattern sizes – from oversized to tiny.

And, I am not alone! Glamour magazine’s advice for wearing gingham in 2016? “Look for tailored trousers and mid-length dresses in this classic print.”  A few of my favorite gingham looks are pictured, above.

Will you rock gingham this season?
