My daughter is graduating this June and, naturally, we are hosting a graduation party to celebrate. As you can imagine, throwing the perfect party for teens can be tricky. In addition to choosing a tasty menu, the right music, and fun party activities (photo booth, horseshoes, fire pit), the décor is a major decision. Fancy or casual? High school or college colors? Themed?
Over the years, our backyard has seen everything from tropical luaus, to Tex-Mex bashes. And, although the centerpieces, tablecloths, and the occasional balloon arches may differ, one décor item is always needed – lighting.
Luckily, our garden has a wonderful perimeter of willow, Osage orange, red bud and dogwood trees, which are absolutely perfect for strings of colorful starry lights. Not only do they provide a festive atmosphere, they also keep party guests from stumbling about in the darkness!
Until now, I have always simply used our existing Christmas lights. But, the thick strands were always hard to work with. And, stringing enough together to make a big visual impact was dangerous.
But, I just discovered these new Multicolor LED String Lights by Oak Leaf crafted from high-quality copper. Each strand has 120 individual LEDs so it’s easy to create a magical setting. But, the LEDs are less intense than the old fashioned ones you may remember, so thankfully, they are a lot easier on the eyes!
The copper wire is bendable, so I can wrap branches easily and the lights stay put. And, they are guaranteed with CE certification and safe for both indoors and outdoors. (The low power and heat insulated copper wire prevent the strands from overheating after usage. Plus, both the power adapter and copper wire are waterproof.)
I chose the multi-color, but these lights come in solid red, green, yellow, blue, and purple, as well. So, if you are working around a particular theme or school colors, you can create exactly the right look.
When the party is over, the lights roll right up for easy storage. And, because they are copper wire instead of heavy plastic covered strands like my old lights, they take up a fraction of the space (good news for my already overstuffed garage).
These lights have a projected lifespan of over 25 years. And, they even come with a 100% satisfaction guarantee. Amazon Prime Retail: $14.99
So, now that the lighting is taken care of, I only have one question… Does anyone have any ideas for great hors d’oeuvres???
