Have you ever seen the clouds part, felt a warm ray of sunshine, and heard the angels sing? That’s pretty much what happened the day I found absolutely stunning equestrian inspired boots by Michael Kors. I imagined myself wearing them with every item in my fall wardrobe. I imagined how great they’d feel crunching through the fragrant hay on a local farmer’s hayride. I imagined that I’d be a different person – a better person – if I could take them home.
The Braden Two-Tone Leather Riding Boots by Michael Kors (pictured) are made of buttery soft, 100% calf leather, with an oh-so-wearable stacked heel of just 0.75 inches. Made in Italy, these boots are a luxe addition to any fall or winter wardrobe.
When I read the price tag ($995), I nearly fainted (must have been all that angel music). But the style! The color! The detailing!
Not to be deterred, I went online to see if I could find a suitable alternative. And I found not one, but two, great options by some of my favorite, go-to designers. While these boots are not exactly the same, they are comparable in style, and are far more affordable.
Lauren by Ralph Lauren Women’s Everly Riding Boots (below) have a similar two-tone equestrian look that is quintessential RL. The boots have a leather upper; cotton / polyurethane / leather lining and a rubber sole. Best of all, they are just $195 at Macy’s.
An even more budget-friendly option is the Shyenne Mid Calf Boot (shown) by Tommy Hilfiger. This boot has a manmade upper and sole, but is priced at just $79.97 at Nordstrom Rack.
I think I just might hear a distant harp…
