I am ready! It’s been a long winter. But I am ready for fun spring fashions that are bursting with pattern, colorful spring handbags, and beautiful gemstone jewelry. What I am not ready for is… shoes. During the pandemic, I have been hunkered down working at home, basically barefoot. On the off chance that I leave for a walk or a dash into the grocery store, I sport sneakers. The thought of strapping on back-breaking heels that pinch and rub… sigh. But, designers seem to understand this dilemma (perhaps they’ve been barefoot all year, too?) and have come to the rescue with gorgeous, but wonderfully wearable, spring shoes for office and weekend, as we begin to emerge from the pandemic.
Here are my Top 4 Fave Shoes for Spring which don’t sacrifice style for comfort:
1) Goddess Sandals
Strappy sandals are nothing new. But, this spring, the strappy sandal is paired with a sturdy block heel for a shoe that looks and feels great. Harper’s BAZAAR magazine recently showcased beauties from Chanel and Alevi, but these far less pricey options are available at one of my favorite stores – DSW Shoes.
- GALVIN SANDALS by Marc Fisher $59.99
- MELI SANDALS by Nine West $79.99
- IMPEL SANDALS by Steve Madden $79.99
2) Business Casual Loafers
No longer relegated to Casual Fridays, low, cozy loafers are a polished alternative to pumps when paired with skinny trousers. Available in neutrals and pretty spring shades from mint to mango, they do double duty as a go-to choice with capris and jeans.
- Alaya Buckle Loafer by NINE WEST $54.97
- Modern Classics Loafer by COLE HAAN $160.00
- Nordstrom Bly Penny Loafer by BØRN $59.90
3) Grown Up Flip-Flops
My office has a dress code that includes no backless shoes. So, these will be part of my weekend wardrobe only. But, what a big part they will be! Traditional thong sandals in yummy brights and embellished with chains or gemstones, these are just the mood-booster I need as outdoor temperatures begin to rise. It’s the clever details really set these apart.
- Fallyn Thong Sandals by Naturalizer $89.00
- Zoria Flat Sandals by Rialto $59.00
- Women’s Boating Jacks Sandal by Jack Rogers $128.00
4) Ballet Flats
Long considered the ‘workhorse’ of the working woman’s wardrobe, new ballet flats for spring are anything but boring. The traditional shape has been transformed with decadent details, sumptuous materials and gorgeous color which completely update the look. I found some of the best at Famous Footwear (which is less than 2 miles from my home and a constant temptation!).
- Snakeskin Ailee Flat by Franco Sarto $88.99
- Weave Ailee Flat by Franco Sarto $98.99
- Suede Ailee Flat by Franco Sarto $88.99
