Last night, I dutifully watched the Red Carpet coverage prior to the Academy Awards. Fashion-wise, I thought that this year was one of the most elegant, sophisticated awards shows in recent memory. And, my Oscar Best Dressed List is long.
A few choices did leave me puzzled, however. For example, even the stunning Olivia Wilde could not pull off a dramatic, but ultimately unflattering, cream-colored Valentino gown.
And, while I absolutely loved the yellow custom-made Louis Vuitton worn by Alicia Vikander, I felt it was not quite “enough” somehow. She looked a little like a child playing dress-up – charming, of course, but nonetheless a miss for me.
Also, Kerry Washington, whose style generally makes me swoon, was a bit of a disappointment in a graphic black and white ensemble. My instant reaction was that the black leather top resembled (unfortunately) a Batman costume.
But, the hits more than made up for the misses. Above are a few of my personal faves – a mix of seriously sleek and slightly more whimsical feminine looks. My other top picks include the always gorgeous Jennifer Garner, stunning in ruffles Brie Larson, and dramatic Sophia Vergara.
