Santa ornaments from Christopher Radko add Christmas whimsy!

Santa ornaments by Christopher RadkoI read somewhere that a beautiful Christmas ornament encapsulates the entire beauty of the holiday in miniature… and I think that it’s true!

According to my family, however, I have something of a little Christmas… “problem.” I do usually erect five (sometimes six!) themed trees throughout the house. And, I do own well over 3,500 ornaments. But, problem? Never!

My themed trees run the gamut. This year there’s a white, gold, and silver tree inspired by legendary Longwood Gardens, an equestrian themed tree in the equestrian-inspired dining room, and of course, a family tree covered in every sentimental ornament from my childhood, the children’s school arts and crafts, ornaments gathered on vacations, gifts, and every adorable ornament I simply couldn’t pass up.

But, the tree that is the true showstopper is the 7′ fir in the living room which boasts well over 500 three-dimensional mercury glass ornaments. I have a real weakness for these whimsical pieces and usually receive several as gifts from family and friends each season. Ice cream cones jostle Mickey Mouse in Santa garb, angels and penguins coexist peacefully, and slices of pizza, nutcrackers, pinecones, ribbon candy, and bears wearing tutus all dangle merrily from its branches.

One of my favorite sources for high-quality ornaments is the Christopher Radko Company. After a quarter century, the Christopher Radko Company has produced more than fifteen million fine European glass ornaments and grown to encompass several additional lines of holiday décor. These include Home for the Holidays, a beautiful collection of decorative holiday tabletop items and trim and Shiny-Brite™, a vintage-inspired line featuring recreations of uniquely American ornaments, lighting, and accessories first made popular in the 1940s and 50s.

This year, I am especially drawn to the company’s many depictions of Santa. And, according to Christopher Radko, Santa really gets around – not simply by sleigh but by camper, rocket and even toy elephant! Above are some of my top picks to get you in the mood for your holiday decorating.

Merry Christmas!
