Back in the early 1990’s having your “colors done” was all the rage. The best-selling book Color Me Beautiful was considered the ultimate color authority and each set of colors was divided up into the seasons (Spring, Summer, Fall, Winter). If you were a Winter, for example, you looked best in dramatic shades like fire engine red, cobalt blue and pure white.
Although the advice is somewhat outdated, a kernel of truth remains. There are simply shades that I cannot wear and some that always look good.
So, when I saw the new Prada collection filled with a shade called Begonia (a dusty pinky mauve) I sighed audibly. Shades with undertones of grey simply do not work with my skin tone, no matter how much I might like them to.
To take advantage of this season’s Pretty in Pink look, I had to adjust my color wheel just a bit. My faves are above!

- Amalie Amber pink lace skirt, $25
- Jimmy Choo hot pink pointy toed pumps
