Did you ever have a handbag you loved so much that you actually planned outfits around it? Me neither… until now. I just got the new Dooney & Burke Clayton satchel and I’m completely obsessed.
Since 1975, Dooney & Burke has been known for its high-quality accessories and this handbag does not disappoint. It’s so well made and so beautifully constructed that I know it will last forever.
I’ve decided that it’s all of those little details that Dooney & Burke includes that really make the difference — feet so the bottom of the bag doesn’t scuff, reinforced zippers for super durability, detachable shoulder straps to vary the look, and even an inside key hook (my personal favorite). It’s attention to those small, but important, details that take a really good bag and make it great.
Normally, I change out my handbag daily to coordinate with various outfits. And, I admit to being something of a collector (just ask my husband whose “side” of the walk-in closet has dwindled to one short hanging rack and a tiny shelf). But, since I got the Clayton satchel, I’ve carried it to work every single day.
For example, since I had no outside meetings planned today, I paired it with a more relaxed in-the-office look (above). But it also works with when I must wear a suit, plus it’s right at home with jeans and boots. It looks great with everything! Retail $428
In fact, I am busy packing for a trip to Boston this weekend to watch my daughter row in the Head of the Charles regatta. I’ll only be bringing one bag. Can you guess which one?
