Here’s a new hair accessory that will give you a “sporting chance!”

This weekend is the Head of the Schuylkill Regatta in Philadelphia. I am really looking forward to a fabulous day watching my daughter row her team (fingers crossed!) to victory at one of the city’s most highly anticipated, annual events. In fact, the finish line is at gorgeous, historic Boathouse Row which is home to the oldest continuously existing club in the U.S. and the oldest women’s rowing club!

Rowing is a sport where distraction – even for a fraction of a second – can prove disastrous. So, uniforms must fit properly (no falling uni straps), sunglasses are crucial to ward off glare, and of course, hair must be kept from flying in the face. All can mean the difference between 1st and 2nd place!

Just this week, we got a secret weapon called a Hoo Rag. Strange name! But, it works. Billed as a “seamless bandana” it’s really an extra wide, lycra Alice Band. It’s the perfect hair accessory for keeping bangs (or growing-out hair styles) firmly out of the way on the water. It’s also fabulous under a helmet for cycling, horseback riding, kayaking and more. If you live an active lifestyle, this is a must-have!

Although it’s purpose is strictly utilitarian, there are numerous, attractive colors and patterns available. Our favorite is the called the Groovy, pictured, which features distressed graphics that give it a very cool vibe. There are many other styles and colors (for guys, too — worn pirate-style!). For sports teams or companies, there are also custom/wholesale options that include choice of colors, graphics, even a team or company logo! They would make coveted team gifts or much-appreciated trade show giveaways.

Just a few days left until Race Day. Row, row, row your boat…
