No doubt many of you are familiar with glorious pieces by Judith Ripka. But what I recently learned is that the firm has equally beautiful jewelry that is more reasonably priced for mere mortals like myself. The official website is filled with pieces under $1,000, with quite a few in the $100-$599 category.
One of my favorites, a circle pendant with stone center, is crafted of 18-karat gold and sterling silver with a large, center canary crystal. Priced at only $325, this gorgeous pendant offers all of the exquisite attention to detail of pricier designs, but for a vastly more affordable cost.
Working through the online catalog, the higher priced pieces incorporate bigger stones, better stones and more stones, but Judith Ripka designs never rely solely on flash. More, they possess uncompromising craftsmanship — no surface area is too small for embellishment and no feature is overlooked. Clasps on the garland loop bracelet’s toggle closure are engraved and rings don’t simply have prongs, they have detailed, heart-shaped prongs.
In loftier price points ($5,000 – $60,000) Judith Ripka pieces are literally fit for royalty. The aptly named Monoco ring, with a cushion cut center stone, plus 2-carats in pave diamonds, is simply perfection. The striking designs of the multi-cab bracelet, an 18-karat yellow gold confection encrusted in pink opal cabochon stones, faceted pink sapphire stones and round brilliant diamonds brings Tsarist Russia to mind immediately. And the estate-inspired Deco cuff in 18-karat white gold accented with 15.7 carats of round, brilliant diamonds would certainly be at home among the baubles in Queen Elizabeth’s jewel box.
