A Walking Pad Treadmill Helps You Walk Your Way to Fitness

A Walking Pad Treadmill Helps You Walk Your Way to FitnessGetting your daily steps in can do so much more than simply help maintain weight loss! According to the Mayo Clinic, regular brisk walking can help you prevent or manage conditions such as heart disease, stroke, high blood pressure, cancer and type 2 diabetes. Walking is also a great way to improve cardiovascular fitness, improve muscle endurance, and increase energy levels. But what you might not know is that walking also helps improve your mood, cognition, memory, and sleep… and even reduce stress and tension!

The Department of Health and Human Services recommends at least 150 minutes of moderate aerobic activity or 75 minutes of vigorous aerobic activity (or a combination of moderate and vigorous activity) spread out over the course of a week. And walking is one of the easiest ways to get your exercise – no expensive gym membership or fancy equipment required.

I really enjoy walking outdoors. And I have several friends who are my diehard “walking buddies.” We walk in the frigid temps ridiculously bundled up. We walk in the heat, lugging ice-cold travel mugs. But, one thing I refuse to do? Walk in the rain! (I am British, but not that British.) So, with spring soon arriving (and with it, plenty of rain here in the Mid-Atlantic) I needed to find a way to get my steps in, even during the “rainy season.”

What I discovered was an oh-so-affordable walking pad treadmill on Amazon… on wheels! It’s small enough for even a tight space (like an apartment, dorm room, or small home office) and can be quickly wheeled into a closet or stashed under a sofa or bed after use.

This walking pad may be compact (measures 47.2 x 19.6 x 4.6 inches) but it’s so effective. The motor can reach speeds up to 3.8 mph and holds 220 pounds of weight.

It’s also wonderfully easy to use. Just turn the power. Step on the surface. And, use the remote to start and adjust your speed (Don’t ever try to jump on while it’s moving – trust me on this!)

The surface is grippy, so it feels quite stable (just make sure to place it on a hard, flat surface when using – no thick carpet). And although it does not have armrests, I got used to it much more quickly than I anticipated. It could also be used in conjunction with a standing desk, should you need more support.

An LED display shows your speed, distance, time, and estimated calories burned. So, you’ll know when you’ve gotten your steps in for the day. Best of all, this little walking pad retails on Amazon for just $109.99.

Time to lace up those Nike’s and get walking!
