Each year, the Pantone Color of the Year program engages the design community in a conversation around color, highlighting the relationship between color and international culture. The Pantone Color of the Year is chosen to express a global mood and attitude. Each year, this announcement influences not only design trends across fashion, but also in home décor and beyond. More than “simply a color,” the chosen shade reflects the mood, aspirations, and challenges of the world.
Announced today, the Pantone 2025 Color of the Year is PANTONE 17-1230 Mocha Mousse. This shade of brown is, according to Pantone, “a warming, brown hue imbued with richness. It nurtures us with its suggestion of the delectable qualities of chocolate and coffee, answering our desire for comfort.”
“Underpinned by our desire for every day pleasures, PANTONE 17-1230 Mocha Mousse expresses a level of thoughtful indulgence. Sophisticated and lush, yet at the same time an unpretentious classic, PANTONE 17-1230 Mocha Mousse extends our perceptions of the browns from being humble and grounded to embrace aspirational and luxe,” explains Leatrice Eiseman, Executive Director Pantone Color Institute.
Established in 2000, Pantone’s Color of the Year selection involves an extensive process. The experts at the Pantone Color Institute comb the world looking for new color influences. Inspiration may come from the entertainment industry, new artists, and fashion trends, as well as popular travel destinations. In addition, influences may stem from new technologies, materials and effects that impact color, social media platforms and even upcoming events of global importance.
