Every year, my collection of Christmas ornaments grows. And, my themed trees run the gamut. This year, there’s a white, gold, and silver tree, an equestrian themed tree, a tree done entirely in crisp red and white, a vintage tree dripping in Shiny-Brite ornaments and sparkling chandelier crystals, and of course, a family tree covered in sentimental ornaments – everything from the children’s school arts and crafts projects, to ornaments from my mother’s and grandmother’s trees, those gathered on vacations, received as gifts… plus every other adorable piece I simply couldn’t pass up!
My newest addition is a food themed tree for (where else?) the dining room! This charming little tree boasts stunning three-dimensional mercury glass ornaments representing every food imaginable. Ice cream cones jostle with pieces of sushi. Wedges of pumpkin pie and hard boiled eggs coexist peacefully. And slices of pizza, bottles of soy sauce, fruits and vegetables, ribbon candy, and cupcakes all dangle merrily from its branches. I have a real weakness for these whimsical pieces and usually receive several as gifts from family and friends each season. (just a few of my actual ornaments are pictured, above)
One of my favorite sources for high-quality mercury glass ornaments is the Christopher Radko Company. After a quarter century, the Christopher Radko Company has produced over fifteen million fine European glass ornaments! These include original designs as well as a revitalization of Shiny-Brite, a vintage-inspired line featuring recreations of uniquely American ornaments, lighting, and accessories first made popular in the 1940s and 50s.
This year, my Wish List for Santa includes quite a few of the newest Christopher Radko offerings for 2024. One of my faves is the “Bubblegum Bliss” ornament (pictured) which depicts and old fashioned bubblegum machine. Made in Poland, this charming little bauble measures 6.25″ x 1.75″ x 1.75″ and will look oh-so-cute amongst my other trinkets. Retail: $68.80
I also love the “Confectionary Cloche” which is like nothing I’ve seen before. The towering cake is sweet on its own, but as always, the Christopher Radko company takes design one step further and has encased the ornament in a glass cloche! Retail $88
These yummy ornaments are available at the Christopher Radko store on Amazon and make incredible gifts for the Christmas enthusiast (dare I say, obsessed?) person on your list. Of course, you can always pick up a little treat for yourself, too…
