Wood Sunglasses from Lit Eyewear are a Fall Favorite

Wood Sunglasses from Lit Eyewear are a Fall FavoriteA few years ago, beautiful wood watches burst onto the scene, forever changing the way we look at “traditional” materials. Since then, wood has become a popular material for other chic accessories, from sleek wood bangles (like the Elsa Peretti bangle originally available at Tiffany & Co.), to clever wood vanity cases (from Chanel).

But nowhere is the lasting trend more evident (for women and men!) than in the case of wood sunglasses. Of course, not all wood sunglasses are created equal. Bamboo, pricey hardwoods, mixed materials… the sheer number of options can be a bit overwhelming. And when purchasing online, goods that are mass produced, veneered, or are of sub-par quality are not always discernible when looking at slick, filtered Instagram images.

But I have found a source for high-quality, handcrafted, authentic wood sunglasses that offer serious style and fabulous function. Lit Eyewear sunglasses are made right in oh-so-sunny Newport Beach, California. And the company specializes in just one thing – gorgeous wood sunglasses. (Watch the video below to see just how these stunners are made.)

These sunglasses leave no doubt as to their authenticity – the beautiful wood grain pattern is immediately evident. The “Raw” glasses (pictured) are a warm medium brown. As the ultimate neutral, they work with everything in my closet and look especially great with autumn fashion essentials in russets, golds, ivories, and sage greens.

The other Lit Eyewear options include “Fire” (which features burned wood) and “Distressed White” (which has the look of rustic reclaimed barnwood).

All three options offer lenses which are polarized, UV400 (dark gray). So, not only do they look great, these wood sunglasses also keep eyes safe from the sun’s harmful rays.

These wood sunnies are also surprisingly lightweight. (If you’ve ever worn sunglasses that were heavy, you know what a headache they can be- literally!). Wearing these sunglasses, even all day, is effortless.Wood Sunglasses from Lit Eyewear are a Fall FavoriteWood Sunglasses from Lit Eyewear are a Fall Favorite

Each pair of sunglasses also comes with the coolest bamboo wooden travel case (which is 100% guaranteed to garner questions and compliments), a interior cloth protection case, and a cloth lens cleaner to keep lenses looking their best.

Wood sunglasses from Lit Eyewear retail for $45. Although that initially may sound somewhat pricey, I find that I tend to take much better care of my expensive glasses, making them last far, far longer than cheap ones (which I lose and break with alarming regularity). In fact, looking at the number-of-wears-to-cost-ratio, they are a great value, since with proper care, they will last for years – just like the little black dress that you wear forever.
