The term “royal purple” actually refers to fabric, and the rarity and cost of the dye originally used to produce it. In fact, fabric in a purple hue was so prohibitively expensive, that only kings, queens, and other royals could ever hope to wear it. But royal purple can also be found in some of the most opulent purple amethyst jewelry preferred by royal family members hailing from a wide variety of countries.
These include the famous Norwegian Amethyst Parure (a parure is a set of various of matching jewelry pieces – I had to look it up!) notable for its unique, convertible necklace / tiara. Camilla, now Great Britain’s Queen Consort, also favors amethysts, particularly a spectacular pearl, diamond, and amethyst necklace featuring a large heart-shaped amethyst. And no amethyst can compare to the Napoleonic Amethyst Parure. The set features enormous purple gemstones fit for… well, royalty. (See these stunners and more royal amethysts at The Court Jeweler.)
But the use of amethyst in jewelry can trace its history even further back than these royal pieces. According to The American Gem Society (AGS), using amethyst in jewelry goes as far back as 2000 BC.
In the AGS article Amethyst Symbolism and Spirituality, the organization explains the long history of the universal and enduring appeal of the gemstone, “Many cultures find spiritual overtones in amethysts. Often viewed as a stone of peace, some believe amethyst’s calming presence produces soothing dreams by bringing the dreamer more in tune with the Divine. This clarity and peacefulness also extend to the waking mind. Amethysts are said to help the mind flow freely in both mental and metaphysical dimensions.” Maybe these spiritual and calming properties are why amethysts are so often found in royal jewelry?
Luckily, you don’t need to wear a crown or carry a scepter to enjoy these beautiful, healing stones!
Today, amethyst jewelry is available in every design iteration imaginable, from faceted sparklers, to sleek, polished cabochons. But one of my favorite looks is The Serenity Bracelet by Conscious Items, pictured, which features a unique combination of raw amethyst crystals paired with polished amethyst beads for a thoroughly modern look.
The juxtaposition of the raw crystals and polished beads wonderfully showcases the beauty of the vibrant purple stone and color variations – from the palest lavender, to a deep, velvety purple. Worn alone or in combination with other bangles, chains, or bead bracelets, this amethyst bracelet will surely garner compliments galore.
Of course, The Serenity Bracelet is not simply a beautiful piece of jewelry.
Like all pieces by Conscious Items, this amethyst bracelet was specifically designed to promote the health and wellness of the wearer. According to Conscious Items, amethyst helps bring the body into a state of relaxation. So, this amethyst bracelet is a source of strength for anyone facing a particularly stressful situation, battling insomnia, or simply in need to more tranquility in their daily life. In fact, amethyst’s nickname is nature’s tranquilizer!
The bracelet features four central raw stones (each approximately 10 mm, will vary slightly) flanked by polished 8 mm beads. The cotton band is 16 cm and is adjustable up to 21 cm. (Please see video on how to easily adjust the bracelet to perfectly fit your wrist.)
This beautiful bracelet is available at Conscious Items and retails for $29.95.
This fabulous amethyst bracelet is just one of the many beautiful, healing pieces I love from Conscious Items. In addition to the Serenity Bracelet, I adore my new malachite Anti-Anxiety Bracelet. And, the Serenity Lamp now has a permanent home on my desk at work (it’s much needed, I assure you).
Plus, there are many more exceptional products crafted from crystals, gems, and natural stones which Conscious Items has expertly curated to “improve focus, invite abundance, deconstruct energy blockages and encourage health, happiness and prosperity.” The extensive collection of home décor will help generate a house or office simply buzzing with positivity, while the jewelry pieces (like this lovely amethyst bracelet) are destined to become your own personal “crystal bodyguards.” See the entire line of healing gems here.
