#Giveaway! Sterling Silver and Amethyst Earrings

#Giveaway! Sterling Silver and Amethyst Earrings by Sitara CollectionsAccording to The Crystal Council, amethyst is a variety of quartz and achieves its distinctive purple color from gamma irradiation and trace amounts of iron. Although most of the world’s supply of amethyst is currently mined in Brazil and Uruguay, the USA also has amethyst deposits in Maine, Pennsylvania, North Carolina, Montana and Colorado.

I’ve actually had a lifelong love affair with amethyst. As a teen, I was given a beautiful amethyst bead bracelet by a beloved aunt, which I still wear often. And, I’ve added to my “collection” with amethyst necklaces and even more lovely bracelets, worn in multiples. But, amethyst earrings are one of my favorite ways to showcase this stunning gemstone. The vibrant color and sparkle are always so eye-catching. And, when paired with gleaming sterling silver, it’s a hard combination to beat.

A personal fave? The striking sterling and amethyst Riya Earrings by Sitara Collections, pictured. The design, a simple but elegant coiled silhouette, draws the eye straight to the cut gemstone’s brilliant depths (with sparkle to spare, my photo does not do them justice!). The earrings are suspended by French ear wires and are delicate enough for daytime wear, but offer plenty of pizazz for the evening, too. (Dimensions: 1.125″ L x .44″ W) Retail $38

Sitara Collections is one of those companies that I’ve simply fallen in love with since discovering them a few years ago. Not only does this company offer beautiful pieces such as the sterling and amethyst earrings, they also do so much good in the world. For example, these earrings are handmade by skilled Indian artisans who are paid fairly for their beautiful designs. Not only are they well compensated, this arrangement allows them to keep traditional craftsmanship alive, while working from their own villages.

The company is also dedicated to giving back. A portion of every sale goes to the Helping Children Succeed Foundation! This is a 501 c(3) organization that provides essential funding for a children’s village school in India.

In addition to the sterling and amethyst earrings, a few of my other favorite finds include sterling silver and citrine earrings, rainbow moonstone pendants, and multi-stone cocktail rings. i love the colorful semi-precious gemstones such as aquamarine, and amethyst. Real rubies are stunningly beautiful. Of course, nothing quite beats a high quality diamond. These earrings are stunning but I can’t wear them since I never pierced my ears. I have 4 grown daughters and know of 2 who would look great wearing these earrings.

I love garnet, as well. And, Sitara has a STUNNING pair of garnet earrings that I gave my daughter for Christmas this year. Affordable, too!

Amethyst is both mine, my mom’s, and my husband’s birthstone so it is my favorite gemstone! I would keep these for myself.

Opal is my favorite since it is my birthstone. But purple is my favorite color so I think these are really pretty!
