Beat Warm Weather Humidity: Carrot Seed Oil Banishes Frizz, Fuzz and Flyaways

Beat Warm Weather Humidity: Carrot Seed Oil Banishes Frizz, Fuzz and FlyawaysThe stress of this past year has truly wreaked havoc on my psyche and it’s showing up… in my hair. Not only have I suffered noticeable hair loss, the gray has emerged with a vengeance. Luckily, my hairstylist is also a talented colorist. But hair color can be so drying. Plus, the frizz, the fuzz, the flyaways! To counteract the effects of coloring my hair, I’ve cut down on washing, practically banished heat styling, and have instituted a weekly argan oil hair mask regimen. On a daily basis, though, Allurials Organic Carrot Seed Oil is my new go-to for frizz-free smoothing, replacing a popular, over-the-counter product that was filled with unpronounceable chemicals.

I’ve long been a fan of natural oils for makeup removal, skincare, and haircare. And, I’ve tried everything from argan oil, to cold pressed olive oil, lavender oil, almond oil, and grapeseed oil. But, carrot seed oil was completely new to me. Did carrot seeds even contain oil, I wondered? What I found is that carrot seed oil is extracted via steam distillation from the seeds of the Daucus Carota plant (the delicate flower otherwise known as wild carrot, bird’s nest, bishop’s lace, or Queen Anne’s lace).

It’s important to note that, “Carrot seed oil is sometimes confused with carrot oil, which is made from a mixture of crushed carrot roots immersed in a carrier oil, such as olive or coconut oil. Carrot oil isn’t an essential oil, however,” according to Healthline. “Like other essential oils, carrot seed oil isn’t meant to be ingested. In this way, it differs from carrot oil, which is often used for cooking.”

Allurials Carrot Seed Oil has no other ingredients. No harsh chemicals, no dyes, no perfumes. The 100% percent pure oil is also never tested on animals and is completely organic.

Although carrot seed oil’s antioxidant properties are helpful for keeping skin rejuvenated and moisturized, I’ve noticed an incredible difference in my hair.

Keeping my hair both shoulder length and free from split ends and fuzz might sound like opposing goals, however, the carrot seed oil helps immeasurably. Not only is my hair smoother and softer, it’s got a great shine that hair color usually strips away. And, I discovered Allurials Organic Carrot Seed Oil just in time, because summer’s overwhelming humidity is mere weeks away.

Wondering how to use it? It just takes a few drops. Rub the oil into hands, then smooth through dry hair (although you can comb it through wet hair, I’ve found that as a “finish” it’s really most effective on dry strands). If split ends are an issue, take special care to continue all the way to the very tips.  My key takeaways:

Scent: Great natural scent and very light.

Color: Surprising dark color. However, it does not stain skin or hair.

Delivery System: The eye dropper is wonderful because you need so little of the product.

Skin Reactions. As with any topical product, carrot seed oil carries the risk of a reaction if you have very sensitive skin. Before applying to hair, do a patch test on a small amount of skin.

Price. I try to be budget conscious, yet don’t always succeed. However, this product has an incredible price tag!  Retail $8.99

In addition to carrot seed oil, Allurials offers many other natural, organic beauty options. A few finds include Tea Tree Oil Body Wash, Goat’s Milk Lotion, and Aloe Vera Gel. To see the entire line, visit Allurials.
