Druse, drusy or druzy? Whichever way you spell it, this sparkling semi-precious gemstone is always beautiful. Unlike traditional faceted gems such as rubies, emeralds or sapphires, drusy is a gemstone with a natural surface texture that resembles spilled sugar. In fact, drusy is the result of dissolved silica deposited in porous quartz.
Drusy’s shape comes from the variety of quartz where the crystals form. And, because there are so many varieties of quartz, there is a huge variation in the many shapes and cuts available.
In addition to its beautiful texture, drusy is also prized for its shimmer and sparkle. The myriad facets reflect light for a glittery display.
And, there’s a color for everyone! Drusy appears naturally in a vast array of shades from bright white, to every shade of violet, pink, blue, yellow and more.
A few years ago, a few forward-thinking jewelry designers, such as Kendra Scott, “discovered” drusy. Today, you can find amazing necklaces, bracelets, rings and earrings of all shapes, colors and sizes.
I’ve highlighted a few of my personal favorites from Kendra Scott. Each piece is under $100. And right now, you can save 15% off your purchase by signing up for the Kendra Scott newsletter.
