Condo living can feel like a dream come true. Skip the stairs and take the elevator! No more mowing the grass! But, if your condo has no patio or balcony, it can feel a bit sterile. Luckily, the solution is simple. Unique ways to add greenery will improve your home’s design aesthetic. And, in addition to beautifying the space and bringing the outdoors in, houseplants can also be good for your health.
According to a recent NBC News piece on the benefits of adding greenery to your space, “Extensive research by NASA has revealed that houseplants can remove up to 87 per cent of air toxin in 24 hours. Studies have also proven that indoor plants improve concentration and productivity (by up to 15 percent!), reduce stress levels and boost your mood — making them perfect for not just your home but your work space, too.”
Wondering where to start? Today’s houseplants go far beyond a simple potted ficus tree. Whole jungles of ferns, climbing vines suspended by rustic ladders, containers fixed high up on walls or ceilings, and entire living walls are more on trend.
If you’re a houseplant beginner, fear not. There are plenty of easy to grow plants! Check out Midwest Living for some of the best. Below are some of my favorite inspiration rooms to get you started.
