I’ve been captivated by legendary Longwood Gardens since I was a little girl. And, I am far from alone. The manicured lawns, exquisitely clipped boxwood topiaries, meandering woodland paths and charming structures provide truly amazing garden inspiration to hundreds of thousands of visitors every year.
Although the sprawling grounds are impressive (including a recent $90 million Main Fountain restoration), I am most passionate about the breathtaking Conservatory. The 4-acre glass enclosed garden is the perfect place to escape the howling winter winds. Inside this magical building, it’s spring!
The current exhibit, aptly entitled the Winter Blues Festival, is an almost visual overload of stunning blue flowers, from poppies to hydrangeas. Or enjoy the diversity of the winter orchids which adorn every corner.
My favorites include a sublime 12-foot tall archway created entirely from Phalaenopsis orchids which greets you at the door and giant orbs of orchids which hang from above. Don’t forget your camera!
The current exhibit runs now through March 25, 2018. CLICK HERE for more information.
