A quick peek at the Ralph & Russo couture show for spring and summer 2018 was all that I needed to confirm my suspicions. In addition to couture essentials such as completely over-the-top marabou embellishments, mini veils, and entirely transparent evening gowns, fringe ruled. And, not just any fringe. At Ralph & Russo, the fringe was silky, sexy, and lengthy, adorning necklines, sashes, sleeves, and hemlines. There were even entire dresses created by adding layers upon layers of fringe!
Why is the look so appealing this season? For me, it’s almost mesmerizing to watch as the models strut their stuff down the runway. Such wonderful movement and life! For evening looks, alluring, swinging fringe is the ultimate way to “make an entrance.”
Although the Ralph & Russo show offered up massive amounts of fringe, for real life, this is probably a non-starter (this show is couture, after all). Shop with Style, however, offers these easy-to-implement ideas, “You don’t have to start with a piece of clothing. Instead, you can add fringe with your accessories and your jewelry. Fringe earrings in a great color, a fringe necklace, or even a bracelet can really help to bring out your inner fashionista – and they aren’t a huge investment.”
