As temperatures dip and the coats and boots begin to emerge from the far reaches of the closet, you may be tempted to stow your sunglasses away with the straw beach bags and flip flops.
Resist the temptation!
Sunglasses are actually just as essential for eye protection in the fall and winter as they are in the summer. In fact, even on a cloudy day, your eyes are not immune to potentially harmful UV rays. Plus, snow acts as a mirror, actually reflecting a second wallop of UV rays.
Of course, serious eye protection doesn’t have to be utilitarian. Sunglasses are a great personal accessory that can be changed regularly, just like scarves, handbags, and jewelry. And, one of my favorite styles is the classic aviator.
Did you know that the sunglasses that we’ve come to recognize as “aviators” were actually created all the way back in 1936 for pilots? Pilots needed anti-glare sunglasses and the classic teardrop shape was ideal because it completely covered and protected the eyes.
But, just because aviator sunglasses are “classics,” that doesn’t mean that they aren’t incredibly fashionable. 80+ years after their invention, shades that were originally designed from the shape of pilots’ googles are still sported by politicians, musicians, fashionistas, and other celebrities (and those of us who just want to look like celebrities!).
Aviator sunglasses have evolved a bit to reflect today’s style for both men and women. No longer is the original gold frame/green lens the only option. Instead there are a whole host of colors from which to choose.
In fact, in a quick search online, I found loads of aviators — both traditional and updated. But, one of new faves is from WearMe Pro. These sunglasses offer the best of both worlds: a classic shape, with updated colors to coordinate with everything in my closet!
The polarized, plastic lens has a subtle purple-tinged mirror effect, shown. And, with my fall favorites, I love the gold-toned frames. But, this style comes in so many combinations including black frame/black lens, black frame/mirror silver lens, gold frame/black lens, gold frame/mirror blue lens, gold frame/mirror pink lens, and even silver frame/mirror silver lens. There’s sure to be a combination (or more likely, two or three!) that’s just right for you.
The WearMe Pro aviators are regularly priced at $29.99. But, with Amazon Prime, you can score a pair for only $12.99. To see the entire line of sunglasses for women and men, visit WearMe Pro.
