The transition from a summer to a fall wardrobe is always a challenge. Somehow, the floral sundresses, tank tops, and skimpy shorts that looked so great in August, look silly come September (even if temps are still topping 90 degrees).
Knowing what to keep and what to pack away is crucial. I make it a point to wear my most “summery” things as August closes, saving back equally lightweight, but darker colored pieces for those first weeks of September.
I also have a few go-to transition pieces that are casual, comfortable, but still polished. These are my ultimate transition pieces.
One of my favorite new additions is the jersey dress from Milkuu, pictured. I love the “swing” style, which hides a multitude of sins. And, the jersey fabric is so comfortable.
This dress is so versatile. For example, the drape-y style looks equally stylish with camel colored gladiator sandals (in September) and with leather boots paired with tights (come November).
This particular Milkuu dress is a super soft, stretchy cotton blend. So, it breathes when the thermometer reads 80+. But, the darker colors, like classic black, deep blue, khaki, and royal blue, have a crisp, fall feeling.
The dress also has some nice details. A boat neckline is the perfect foil for long necklaces, statement collars, or pretty scarves. The long sleeves can be worn pushed up in early fall and worn under a short jacket as temps dive. The simple silhouette works with a long swing vest or a cardigan. It even has useful pockets!
I absolutely love this dress. My only tiny criticism is that it will wrinkle if packed. The good news is that the wrinkles will easily fall out if you hang it in the bathroom while showering. But, if you fold it or roll it, it will wrinkle a bit. Still, it’s a great travel dress, because it can so easily be dressed up for a nice dinner or event, or dressed down for a day of sightseeing.
This dress also comes in a wide range of sizes, from X-small through 3X. I found that it ran true to size, but there is a sizing chart, just to be sure. The chart includes not only US dress sizes, but also chest/bust, waist, and hip measurements in inches.
This transition dress ranges in price between $8.00 and $14.99 (depending on size). With prices this reasonable, you’ll want it in every color.
And, although I am not looking forward to the end of summer, at least now I have a great transition dress to make it a little easier!
