The 1920’s were a revolutionary time period in women’s fashion. Taking their cue from trendsetter Coco Chanel, young women liberated themselves from constricting corsets and restrictive hemlines, in direct opposition to the established fashion “rules.” Young women shocked their elders by embracing trousers, bobbing their hair, and even wearing cosmetics!

The Jazz Age was an era dedicated to living the good life. Glamour and sophistication ruled the styles of the day with intricate beading, sumptuous fabrics like velvet and fur, and the detailed geometric embellishments of the Art Deco movement.

With the imminent release of the remake of the classic film The Great Gatsby (2012) starring Leonardo DiCaprio in the title role, fashion designers have incorporated some of that 1920’s signature style into their collections for fall and winter.
