Sometimes you just can’t beat a classic. The workhorses of every woman’s wardrobe — the Little Black Dress, a quilted Chanel bag, and a well-cut gray wool skirt — will all last for years and never look dated.
But a closet filled with only classic pieces quickly loses its charm. Everyone needs a bit of “pop” and smart designers know how to take a classic, give it a twist and create fashion that is exciting, but never trendy.
One of my personal favorites is the classic penny loafer. I have half a dozen pairs in various materials, shades, and price points. And, I wear them with just about everything! Capris and summery canvas loafers? Check. Narrow leg cords and sassy red leather loafers? You bet. I’ve even been known to sport a sleek, dressy pair with an ultra-long skirt when I know I’ll be on my feet all day sightseeing!
Part of the attraction, for me, is the comfort factor. I feel infinitely more chic when I am not hobbling due to pain in my arches or blisters on the balls of my feet! The other part of the loafer’s allure is definitely ease. With a hectic lifestyle, the just-slip-on-and-go factor is oh-so-appealing!
Today I’ve chosen to showcase several pairs of fashionable loafers than can be incorporated into almost any wardrobe. From vibrant color, to upscale details, to unique materials, all of these loafers offer a dash of the unexpected. Sorry, pennies not included.
