Football is my life. I am chuckling as I write this, because although I was never much of a fan before, my sophomore son made the Varsity high school football team this year. Hence, I am one proud mama and now a huge football fan.
Unfortunately, said son has recently been sidelined due to injury, however, he still is required to attend all games. And where he goes, we parents follow.
Last week the team took on St. Andrew’s School. You may remember St. Andrew’s as the setting for the Robin Williams’ film Dead Poets Society. Absolutely gorgeous grounds — and I had the almost overwhelming urge to run about shouting Carpe Diem! But as stunning as the school grounds are, they are completely flat and the day was windy!
Although I had planned my outfit carefully, the effect was definitely spoiled by the fact that I sat huddled in my son’s school fleece throughout most of game. Given that the fleece is a men’s XL, hunter green and sports a large school logo… it wasn’t pretty, ladies!
So this week, as we face rival Tatnall School, I will be prepared. Although it probably won’t be chilly on Saturday, I’m not taking any chances. I’ve found three versatile cardigans to keep handy either in the car or in my voluminous Kelly Moore bag.
