The results are in! By an overwhelming margin, according to our (only-a-little-bit) scientific, month-long poll, flip flops for the office were deemed inappropriate. I have to admit, as much as I love my comfy Havaianas, I don’t wear them to work, even with a very, very relaxed “dress code” in the summer. So, what’s a girl to do when headed to the office during the long hot summer months? Here are a couple of great flip flop alternatives that will give you that vacation vibe (even in the office!), without sacrificing style:
The blocky heel, ankle wrap sandal. Super comfy, looks stylish but is comfortable enough to wear all day. This sandal (like the one pictured above) has been around for a few years now and shows no signs of fading.
The espadrille. As a child of the 1980’s I admit a real nostalgic fondness for the espadrille. But updated versions look less kitchy and more contemporary.
Flat sandals. (I like mine from Jack Rogers.) A perennial fave which has the “sherbet factor.” (Don’t you always buy summer sandals in delicious colors that would look plain old goofy in any other type of shoe?)
Kitten heel slides. The heel makes them acceptable for the office, although the slapping sound may annoy your coworkers!
Wedges or Platforms. So cute with jeans or capris for Casual Friday!
