Rock Your Ugly Sweater Book Giveaway

Rock Your Ugly Christmas Sweater by Anne Marie Blackman and Brian Clark Howard. celebrates some less than stellar fashion moments! Available at Barnes & Noble, Amazon and more.Admit it – you wore one. It might have sported Santa head appliques. Or maybe it included sparkling faux gemstone detailing. If you were really stylish, it could even have had real jingle bells attached! I’m talking, of course, about the ubiquitous Ugly Christmas Sweater. All joking aside, I didn’t have one – I had two!

And, they’re back. This December, super stylish women everywhere will be celebrating the holiday at irreverent Ugly Christmas Sweater- themed parties. According to The Washington Post style writer Maura Judkis, “For at least 10 years, grown adults have been trotting up light-up Rudolph sweaters, or hand-knitted Christmas tree abominations for laughs.” And the more stylish the attendee, the more fun it is to wear such a… colorful … item!

In fact, the Ugly Christmas Sweater has become a beloved holiday cultural phenomenon not just in the US, but the world over (think of Ron Weasley and his annual hand-knit Christmas “jumper” in the Harry Potter series). Or, Colin Firth’s unfortunate sweater in Bridget Jones’s Diary. And, it was actually a group of Canadian merrymakers who officially laid claim to hosting the first Ugly Christmas Sweater Party.

Even the kids of GLEE rock their Ugly Christmas Sweaters!

Wherever the tradition originated, both the Ugly Christmas Sweater and the Ugly Christmas Sweater Party are here to stay. If you need some inspiration for an upcoming party, look no further than Rock Your Ugly Christmas Sweater – a delightful new book by Anne Marie Blackman and Brian Clark Howard released just this week.

The laugh-out-loud funny book features more than 200 full-color photos of people (and pets) rocking hilariously awful Christmas sweaters, accompanied by imaginative captions. Categories include festive fun, vintage ugly, homemade hits and misses, pet photos, Hanukkah and Kwanza get-ups, and more. Rock Your Ugly Christmas Sweater is available Amazon, Powells, Barnes & Noble and more.

Wow..the vests with Christmas decorations.. or any of the crazy ones lighted up caught my eyes (too Funny!).. . I must say way back when homemade or from retail.. they were kind of cute~Now you get ugly looks if you wear one. It went by the way of fruit cakes. All made fun of of..but Mrs. Harvey’s from the South was a pretty good cake.

I’m a fan of the vintage sweaters that were actually made “ugly”, vs the “crafted up” ones that people make now. Something about how someone initially wore them “seriously” gives them an inherent kitschy charm.

And I think one of my photos is in that book!
