Blanket Scarves: Cozy Fall Staples

Fall staple: Cozy blanket scarves

Haven’t jumped on this trend YET? It’s time to snuggle up with one of the many stunning Outlander-inspired blanket scarves that have become so popular.

As the wife of a Scotsman myself, I have become quite partial to tartan. And, these fall scarves really deliver on that Highland style. Wrap over a turtleneck sweater or toss over a  coat. They instantly turn a ho-hum outfit Instagrammable.

Although I love some of the designer plaids available, my personal top picks are traditional Scottish plaids such as the Stewart, Maxwell, and of course, my husband’s clan, Macneil of Colonsay.  (A complete inventory of all traditional Scottish tartans is available at Wikipedia.)

Above are just a few of my personal faves. But, you will find blanket scarves everywhere. To make your search a little easier, simply visit Macy’s, Nordstrom, and Lord and Taylor.

Not only do these oversized plaid scarves look great, they are so cozy and warm… there may be even be enough room in there for two!
