Kiltie Details: THE Shoe Trend for Fall

Kiltie Details: THE Shoe Trend for FallSince February, I’ve been watching the shoe trends currently touted for fall… with trepidation. While fabulous on the runway, wildcat and reptile skins, thigh high boots, velvet platforms, and furry detailing simply don’t translate to my “real life” lifestyle. One trend that I am ready to snap up, however, is the kiltie. Kiltie details – a fringed tongue or leather loafer tassels – have such a retro, 1970’s vibe.

According to InStyle magazine, “Heeled and ballet styles bring a feminine spin to the tasseled men’s classic. Play up the dichotomy by combining kiltie details with a floral dress and boyfriend cardi or skinny cords and a chunky sweater.” For office, for sport, for weekend, for evening, this is such a lighthearted, fun look.

Above are some of my favorite looks (with fun kiltie details) for the season – and beyond. And, since my summer sandals are now safely packed away until next June, I think it’s time for a bit of shoe shopping!
