For years, I have been working on much-needed kitchen updates, one expensive piece at a time. Stainless steel appliances, a country-rustic open hutch, and an incredibly useful center island have all made a major improvements in the function and the look of our kitchen.
But sometimes, little things can also make a big impact.
Take, for example, the inexpensive, unattractive, yellowing plastic paper towel holder that has been in my kitchen since well before we moved in. It was not a high priority on my kitchen updates list (the fake brick flooring, chipped porcelain sink, and giant corkboard glued to the wall of our fixer-upper all came first). And, after a while, I ceased to actually see it.
Then one day, as I was clearing the counters of the daily clutter, I spied it out of the corner of my eye. Oh dear!
My new paper towel holder by SIWU, pictured, may not seem like one of my huge kitchen updates, but to me, it makes a big difference.
This paper towel holder is sleek stainless steel to match my new high-end appliances. And, it’s freestanding, so I can move it wherever it’s needed for messy-but-fun barbeques, corn boils, and weekend crab feasts!
I love the easy-to-use design – the new towel roll just pops right on or off. And, it even has a clever tension arm and weight, so I am not wasteful.
This paper towel holder retails for only $18.70, which makes me question why I had not replaced the old one sooner!
Now that I have this item checked off my list, I am on to my next set of kitchen updates… I am thinking about knocking down the wall between the kitchen and dining room!
