Outdoor lighting? Try French café-inspired globes!

The perfect outdoor lighting! French cafe inspired globe lights are vintage chicAdding charm to a typical suburban landscape can be challenging. When faced with a standard patch of green lawn and perhaps some privacy fencing, many homeowners are stumped about what to do next. But, adding a few simple elements can make all the difference between ho-hum and oo-la-la!

Comfortable seating and proper flooring are just the beginning.  Layering in colorful potted flowers adds ambiance to any size space (even a tiny apartment patio). Installing a fire pit creates a wonderful conversation area, warmth, and a reason to gather. The melodious sounds of a water feature provide a restful atmosphere. And, don’t forget those small details — a welcome sign, a convenient place to rest a glass of iced tea, or maybe a cozy hammock.

Of course, one of the most important elements is also one of the most often overlooked: adequate outdoor lighting. Candles and lanterns, while attractive, offer extremely limited illumination. And, outdoor spotlights can be too harsh and bright.

But, an easy, effective and delightful way to add outdoor lighting to any garden is through vintage-inspired French café globe lights. These are the same lights that have graced famous cafés and bistros across Paris for decades. They create an intimate atmosphere and an inspired way to enjoy your outdoor space well after dark.

The patio lights pictured are by Esco-Lite and are a full 25 ft. They are the easiest way to add light along a fence line, on the ribs of a patio umbrella, or (my personal fave) strung between pillars, posts, or pergola supports.

There are 25 individual glass bulbs (each is 1 ½ inches across) which are then spaced 12 inches apart. This configuration provides just the right amount of light (without becoming overwhelming).

And, up to three strands can be connected together for a full 75 feet of illumination. Best of all, even if one light goes out, the rest remain lit — unlike exteremly frustrating Christmas or fairy lights.

The lights retail for $23.91 via Amazon Prime. Esco-Lite also offers other lighting options like LED strings and even solar lights. To see the entire line of lighting options, visit Esco-Lite.

Now, I just need to speak to my husband about expanding that water feature…
