Embellished denim is back. When I first spied this Marc Jacobs denim jacket, it was like a trip back in time to 1995.
And, since this trend is sure to be short-lived, I will not be investing $695 (even though the jacket is oh-so-sparkly and covered with a plethora of funky New York themed appliques and pins). Instead, I will rely on a trick that I used when styling my very first fashion show back in college — vintage brooches.
I have dozens of brooches, from classic cloisinne, to 1960’s crosses, to Material Girl-inspired rhinestones. Pinning them in a random pattern approximates the Marc Jacobs look, without the expense.
And, when the trend is dead, I’ll simply unpin!
