Winter white? I say… let it snow!

winter whiteWinter white is a look I have loved for years. Back in college, I had a simple winter white wool dress, long pearls, and winter white pumps – my go-to outfit for dress-up events. When I graduated and got my first job in advertising, a classic winter white suit with a pleated skirt was one of my top choices for meetings with new clients. And these days, I live in a (more casual) Ralph Lauren white wool scarf and fuzzy Angora sweater.

The key to making winter white look elegant is to wear only winter clothes. No summer slacks, skirts or tops made of cotton. No summer pumps in blinding, arctic white. And, absolutely no crochet, eyelet, or cutwork!

Think timeless, sophisticated, luxe. I personally love creamy white faux fur accessories, white wool pants, skirts, or suite, white cashmere turtlenecks, and (of course!) piles of pearls.

Above are a few classic ideas to get you started. And, with looks this sophisticated and beautiful, I say… let it snow!

  • Ralph Lauren Black Label belted coat
  • Fake leather jacket, $59
  • Open front vest, $44
  • Bettye Muller side zip boots
  • Dorothy Perkins chain strap purse, $22
  • Blue Nile freshwater pearl jewelry
  • Bling Jewelry pin brooch
  • Slouchy hat
