Easy, inexpensive, and heartfelt Thanksgiving style for your home!

Thanksgiving styleThanksgiving is one of my all-time favorite holidays. It’s a day for giving thanks for all of the wonderful things we already have, instead of greedily looking forward to the new things we will get.

Unfortunately, Thanksgiving seems to be disappearing! Between the hoopla surrounding Halloween (which seems to hit stores while I am still in shorts and sandals) to the absolute frenzy of Christmas (in October? Really?) Thanksgiving sadly gets lost in the shuffle.

In a recent Fortune article, author Michal Addady  says, “To compete with other retailers, many stores have been making themselves available to Black Friday junkies earlier and earlier, spilling over into Thanksgiving Day celebrations. The holiday has become less about giving thanks, and more about shoving people out of your way to snag a television set for 75% off.”

Luckily, this year we are seeing some stores respond to the push back from consumers who want to keep this special holiday a time for family and friends. And, some stores will NOT be open on Thanksgiving Day including Nordstrom, T.J. Maxx, Marshalls, Barnes and Noble, and Pier 1 Imports, among others.

As for me, I have been busy adding Thanksgiving style to every single room in my home! From harvest pumpkins and gourds, to garlands of fall leaves, to classic turkey images, I enjoy these great visual reminders, all month long.

Above are a few of my favorite easy and inexpensive ways to add Thanksgiving flair to your home. For more looks that I love, including tablescapes, front porch décor, and craft projects, visit Susan Said…WHAT?! on Pinterest.
