As much as I love all of my shiny appliances, they make the rest of the kitchen look a bit… dreary. A paint job is in the works, but I thought that a quick dose of style via textiles would be an easy and instant “fix.”
Lucky for me, I was recently introduced to French Fixe! This is an incredible resource for all things French and oh-so-chic. Most of the products come from small, family run companies in France, some of which are centuries old. In addition to gorgeous gift baskets and boxes, delicious food and drink, kids’ items, must-have accessories, and table runners, French Fixe offers an amazing assortment of classic French tea towels.
According to a recent article from the Wall Street Journal, “… in France, tea towels have a special tradition. As with so many other mundane items, the French have raised kitchen towels to an art form. These beautiful examples look as if they should be framed—and often are.”
Although I won’t be framing mine simply due to lack of wall space, I am quite tempted! The cheery cotton jacquard kitchen linens and great graphics simply light up the kitchen.
One of my personal favorites is the Jean Vier French Fish Tea Towel. This towel depicts three types of fish that feature prominently in Basque fishing: sardines, anchovies and “merlu” or hake, in various shades of blue. 23 x 35 inches. 100% cotton. Retail: $24.95.
Another top pick is the Jean Vier Rooster Tea Towel. The rooster, or “coq,” is a national symbol of France and adds instant French flair to my space. 2 ft. x 3 ft. 100% cotton. Retail: $24.95.
Now, one lucky reader will winner 3 French Tea Towels from French Fixe (Retail value $60-$75 dependent upon style). Choose from more than 40 beautiful styles!
